No captaincy, Vermaelen Shocked

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, said he was surprised the Belgian national team captain was no longer entrusted to him. In fact, he hopes to lead Belgium while undergoing a trial match against Romania, 11 November.

To note, coach Georges Leekens appointed captain Vincent Kompany as the new Belgian because Vermaelen long absences due to injury. Vermaelen think, this decision is only temporary and if he had recovered, the armband will return to his hand. However, although now ready to perform, Vermaelen still lose his position. This makes Vermaelen was disappointed.

"I thought I was a captain (Belgium). I'm obviously disappointed not to use the armband again in my arms. Despite my long absence, I think I will stay to captain the team," said Vermaelen.

"I do not discuss it with Vincent. But I guess it's not necessary," lamjutnya.

The coach was reluctant to discuss this. However, he felt happy Vermaelen was able to perform. Understandably, Vermaelen is a sturdy fortress Belgium with Kompany.
